| LASEROPTIK stocks a selection of UV- and VUV- substrates for fast delivery. Our experience in the production of high power laser optics has shown, that only the best materials and polishing techniques result in color center free substrates with highest UV transmission. The optical quality of the UV substrates is controlled by the following measures: • the surface flatness by Fizeau-Interferometer, • the transmission in the range 120-250nm by a VUV-spectrophotometer and • degradation by irradiation of a sample with 5 Joule at 193nm.
MgF2
![]() CaF2 has a very broad transmission range from VUV to FIR and is used as window and substrate material. Compared to MgF it has an isotropic structure, lower hardness and is sensitive to thermal shocks. If the condensation of water vapor is prevented, CaF2 windows can be used for several years in the laboratory. CaF2 begins to soften at 600 °C, the reaction with atmospheric moisture will take place above this temperature.
